
The India Meteorological Departmemt (IMD) said the Southwest Monsoon has further advanced into Telangana and some more parts of Maharashtra and Chhattisgarh on Wednesday (June 12).
The weather agency said the conditions are favourable for further advance of Southwest Monsoon into some more parts of Odisha, Coastal Andhra Pradesh and northwest Bay of Bengal during the next three-four days.
Also, IMD has issued an orange alert for Delhi amid the heatwave condition. It will be downgraded to yellow alert on June 13. IMD scientist Soma Sen said a western disturbance has passed and a heatwave situation will go on the entire Northern belt for the next four-five days.
The IMD has issued a red alert for Bihar, East Uttar Pradesh and Jharkhand for the next two-five days. Heatwave is expected in isolated pockets of Punjab and Haryana and an orange alert has been issued for the two states.
"Easterlies are expected by June 18-19 giving rise to the possibility of thunderstorms in Bihar and adjoining areas," Sen said.

The IMD unit in Mumbai said thunderstorms accompanied with lightning and moderate spells of rain with gusty winds reaching 40-50 kmph are very likely to occur at isolated places in Thane, Raigad, Palghar, Ratnagiri, Sindhudurg, Sangli, Beed, Jalna, Nasik, Pune and Satara today.
