Renowned badminton champion PV Sindhu has announced her investment in the agritech startup Greenday’s FMCG brand, 'Better Nutrition'. Along with her financial commitment, Sindhu has also taken on the role of the company’s brand ambassador. The specifics of the investment size remain undisclosed by Greenday.
In an interview with CNBC-TV18, Prateek Rastogi, Founder & CEO of Greenday, shared that the newly raised funds will be directed towards scaling the company's operations.
"We primarily create nutri-farms, which are nutrition-dense farms along with our farmers. So the funds would be used for expansion of those, expansion of biofortification as a tech to different products, different crops, and then definitely putting in more efforts on consumer education,” Rastogi elaborated.
Established in 2017, Greenday collaborates with over 15,000 farmers, focusing on education and incentives to encourage the cultivation of nutrient-rich grain varieties. The
startup also claims to have generated revenue exceeding Rs 10 crore.
Going ahead, Rastogi highlighted the company’s plans to bio-fortify millets and specific oil seeds, such as mustard. Additionally, the company aims to expand into the Telangana and Andhra Pradesh regions, where millets and maize are predominantly grown by local farmers.
