Capital markets watchdog Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) on June 11 announced that it is looking to hire 49 officers across several departments this year. The markets regulator has initiated the process as bringing in new officers will help in faster and more effective execution of its regulatory role.
SEBI wants to recruit Officer Grade A (Assistant Manager) across different departments. “SEBI invites applications from Indian citizens for the post of Officer Grade A (Assistant Manager) for the general stream, legal stream, information technology stream, research stream, official language stream and engineering (electrical) stream. SEBI reserves the right to fill up the posts or not to fill up the posts at all,” the market regulator said in its notification.
The regulator is looking to fill 34 positions in the general stream, 10 in information technology, two in the legal team and one each in engineering (electrical), research and official language departments.
The link for submitting the application online will be open till June 30. Those willing to apply can check the eligibility criteria for each stream here.
Selection will be carried out in three phases beginning July 27.
Once the application is filed, those who make the cut will be informed by email and SMS about the availability of call letters on the SEBI website for online examinations.
Phase I On-Line Examination will be conducted on July 27 followed by Phase 2 on August 31, except Paper 2 of the Information Technology stream. Paper 2 of Phase II of the IT stream will be held on September 14. Then in Phase III, interview dates will be intimated to shortlisted candidates.
Sebi has been increasingly increasing its workforce strength over the past few years.
The latest hiring comes after SEBI invited applications in March for the 97 senior-level posts. Earlier in July 2022, the regulator had invited applications for 25 senior-level executives in the information technology department.
Prior to that in January 2021, SEBI invited applications for the recruitment of 120 Officer Grade A (Assistant Manager) in different streams. In March 2020, the regulator invited applications for 147 senior-level officials and around 1.4 lakh people applied for these positions.
SEBI regulates business in stock exchanges and other securities markets, registers and regulates various market intermediaries, including brokers, merchant bankers, registrars, portfolio managers and investment advisers, as well as foreign portfolio investors, credit rating agencies, mutual funds and venture capital funds.
