Prime Minister Narendra Modi, marking his third term in office, signed the release of the 17th instalment of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN Nidhi) scheme. This move, authorising the disbursement of approximately ₹20,000 crore, is set to benefit 9.3 crore farmers across the nation.

This latest instalment follows the distribution of the 16th tranche under the PM-KISAN Yojana, which saw funds transferred to farmers' bank accounts on February 28.
Under the PM-KISAN scheme, landholding farmers' families receive an annual financial benefit of ₹6,000, distributed in three equal instalments of ₹2,000 each.
This initiative, a central sector scheme, aims to provide crucial income support to farmers' families.
Crucially, the burden of transferring these benefits to the targeted beneficiaries falls entirely on the government.
How to check PM-KISAN Instalment status:
Step 1: Visit pmkisan.gov.in.
Step 2: Select the 'Beneficiary Status' option under the 'Farmers Corner' section on the homepage.
Step 3: Enter the registered Aadhaar number or bank account number.
Step 4: Click on 'Get Data' to display the status of the instalment.
Farmers enrolled under the PM-KISAN scheme are encouraged to complete their eKYC (electronic Know Your Customer) process, as it has been made mandatory for all registered beneficiaries.
The eKYC process can be carried out through OTP (One-Time Password) on the PM-KISAN portal.
