
Pema Khandu was sworn in as Arunachal Pradesh's Chief Minister for the third consecutive term on Thursday, May 13, at 11 am. Union Home Minister Amit Shah was in Itanagar to attend the event. The swearing-in ceremony was also attended by Union Ministers JP Nadda, Kiren Rijiju and Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma.
Pema Khandu was re-elected as the Chief Minister of Arunachal Pradesh, just over a week after he led the BJP Legislative Party to victory in the state assembly elections by winning 46 out of 60 seats.

Pema Khandu is a prominent political figure in Arunachal Pradesh, hailing from the Monpa tribe and born into a well-known political family in the Tawang district. Khandu completed his early education at Govt. Secondary School, Bomba, Tawang, in 1995 and Donyi-Polo Vidya Bhawan, Itanagar, in 1997.
Khandu later pursued higher education at Hindu College, Delhi University, graduating with a BA (Hons) in History in 2000. The 44-year-old leader is a father of two sons and two daughters.
Political career
Khandu's political journey began by assisting his father, the late Dorjee Khandu, who served as the Chief Minister of Arunachal Pradesh. He was first sworn in as a cabinet minister in 2011 and held various portfolios in different government setups.
In 2016, following political turmoil, Khandu took charge as the Chief Minister, leading a group of Congress MLAs to switch sides to the People's Party of Arunachal, and later rejoining the BJP.
In the 2019 elections, Khandu was re-elected from the Mukto seat and continued to hold the office of Chief Minister. Known for his dynamic leadership and vision for development, Khandu has been instrumental in spearheading various initiatives for the growth and progress of Arunachal Pradesh.
