The focus has shifted from the election results to the incoming ministers of the new government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

While the allocation of ministries is still to be announced, CNBC-TV18 has learnt from sources that there are at least nine policy changes on the anvil. Some of these changes may be announced during the upcoming budget.

  1. Government may increase allocation for aspirational districts program in the upcoming budget beyond the current goal of 500 districts.

  2. Atal Innovation Mission may be revamped to focus on entrepreneurship and job creation.

  3. Government may set up a new institute to focus on increasing credit to small businesses and help them increase exports.

  4. Some proposals include higher indemnity for bank loans to micro, medium, and small enterprises (MSME).

  5. Comprehensive review of production-linked incentive (PLI) schemes

  6. Government may look at backward linkages for MSMEs in PLI schemes.

  7. A review of PLI schemes could result in more focus on industries that can create more jobs.

  8. Govt will have to take a call on pending divestment and asset monetisation agenda.

  9. Some sections of govt believe that higher welfare expenditure may have to be balanced by divestment and asset monetisation.
