President Droupadi Murmu is all set to administer the oath of office and secrecy to Prime Minister-elect Narendra Modi and other members of the Union Council of Ministers at the Rashtrapati Bhavan on Sunday, June 9. The national capital will remain on high alert for the mega event.
Amid tight security, preparations are in full swing in Delhi as Narendra Modi prepares to start his third consecutive term as the Prime Minister.
As per the official schedule, the swearing-in ceremony will take place at 7:15 pm on Sunday in the forecourt of the Rashtrapati Bhavan.
Heavy security
According to reports, multi-layered security has been put in place to heavily guard the Rashtrapati Bhavan for the event. These include five companies of paramilitary personnel, NSG commandos, drones and snipers, India Today reported.
An elaborate security system has been put in place for the high-profile event. Some of the key measures include special arrangements for the inner perimeter around the Rashtrapati Bhavan and Kartavya Path as well as the outer perimeter around hotels where foreign dignitaries, who will attend the event, will stay.
These include Taj, Maurya, Leela, and Oberoi. The outermost perimeter includes ground-to-air surveillance and comprehensive security cover in the central area of Delhi.
Besides this, intelligence units in the country and abroad have been mobilised along with increased frisking at traffic checkpoints, sealing of borders and setting up of control rooms, News18 reported.
Top officials from the Delhi Police have reportedly conducted a thorough security review at the Rashtrapati Bhavan as part of the preparation for the swearing-in ceremony.
"With effect from June 9, there will be a prohibition on flying of sub-conventional aerial platforms like para-gliders, para-motors, hang-gliders, UAVs, UASs, microlight aircraft, remotely piloted aircraft, quadcopters or para-jumping from aircraft etc. over the jurisdiction of the NCT of Delhi given swearing-in ceremony in the National Capital Territory of Delhi to thwart criminal, anti-social elements or terrorists inimical to India from posing a threat to the safety of the general public, dignitaries and vital installation by using them," read a notice from the Delhi Police.
It further stated that the orders shall remain in force for two days until June 10.
Those found violating the orders shall be punishable under Section 188 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
