Actress Kangana Ranaut, a BJP candidate, claimed victory in the Mandi constituency of Himachal Pradesh, setting the stage for her maiden stint as a parliamentarian. She received 5,27,463 votes, leading by a margin of over 73,703 votes against her closest rival Vikramaditya Singh of the Congress.

The "Queen" actor also shared photos with her mother Asha who is seen feeding her a sweet dish after early trends put her ahead of Singh from the constituency.

With 17 assembly segments, Mandi has typically been a Congress stronghold; tables turned in the 2019 elections when Ram Swaroop Sharma of the BJP won the seat by a tremendous margin of over 43%, securing 68.75% of the votes.

Ranaut drew large crowds at her extensive campaigns for her electoral debut, she received the backing of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and other leading BJP members.

Ranaut’s opponent, Congress candidate Vikramaditya Singh, son of former Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh, counted on his family’s legacy and the Congress party’s organisational strength but the votes are not leaning in his favour.

Ranaut's political agenda includes the expansion of women-centric rural tourism in Seraj and Karsog, resuming halted projects, and marketing traditional cuisines and clothing.
