Indian airlines’ rules on travelling with your pets

For passengers who wish to travel along with their pet cat or dog on flights, here are the Indian airlines and their guidelines on the same.

Travel with pets weighing up to 10 kg (including the weight of the container) in the cabin permitted

Passengers can travel with a pet in the cabin with their container weighing not over 7 kg.

The ticket for Air India flight shall be booked 72 hours before departure for the carriage of pets in the cabin.

Vistara allows only service dogs for passengers with disabilities on its flights.

It requires passengers to inform the airline 48 hours prior to the departure of the flight.

Air India Express permits only guests travelling with service animals.

For passengers with disabilities, the airline asks passengers to add a service dog to their reservation 48 hours prior to the departure.

The airline permits pets to be carried in the cargo hold on domestic flights.
