India have qualified for the Super 8 of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 that is being co-hosted by the United States of America (USA) and West Indies. The Men in Blue have won three group-stage fixtures in a row, defeating Ireland, Pakistan, and the USA to book a place in the forthcoming stage of the competition.
The Rohit Sharma-led side started the competition strongly, getting the better of Ireland at the Nassau County International Stadium in New York. A superlative bowling effort was followed with a sensible approach with the bat and the team got their first two points in the bag pretty comfortably.
The team stepped out to take on co-hosts USA in their following fixture. Again, the Indian bowling stood supreme, restricting USA to 110 in the opening essay of the match. Arshdeep Singh struck four dismissals as vice-captain Hardik Pandya chipped in with a couple of wickets and one went in the favour of Axar Patel.
Nitish Kumar and Steven Taylor scored 27 and 24 respectively but Team USA were unable to put up a total that could outclass the seasoned Indian batting unit. The early dismissals of Rohit and Virat Kohli were weathered by the incredible innings of Suryakumar Yadav, where the Mumbai Indians (MI) player hit a fine half-century, supported by the 31 off 35 brought up by Shivam Dube.
With three victories in as many matches, India tops Group A and has hence steamrolled into the next stage of the competition.

Their second game of the tournament was against arch-rivals Pakistan at the same venue. Rishabh Pant and Axar Patel were the standout performers with the bat, but the side could muster up only 119 batting first. However, a tremendous display by Jasprit Bumrah, who notched three wickets giving away only 14 in four overs, was enough to contain Pakistan to 113 as the Babar Azam-led team squandered a brilliant start to fall short of the modest target eventually.
