As the government pushes the proposal to extend health coverage for all, the interim budget could consider hiking the Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PM-JAY) insurance cover by up to 50%, sources say.
“The proposal is under active consideration however a final decision is yet to be taken,” sources added.

The government claims that more than 5.68 crore authorised hospital admission counts have been recorded. About ₹70,000 crore authorised hospital admission amount has been registered and over 26,000 hospitals have been empanelled on the scheme.

Here's how to apply for Ayushman Bharat Yojana?
- Log in to their official website: mera.pmjay.gov.in
- Now enter the mobile number and the captcha code given on the screen.
- Enter the OTP that is sent to the registered mobile number, it will then take you to the PMJAY login screen
- Now select the state from where one is applying for this scheme
- Select how you want to check for the eligibility criteria: Mobile number, Name, Ration card number
- The name will reflect. One can also check the beneficiary details by clicking on the 'Family Members' tab
In addition to this, one can also check eligibility by approaching any Empanelled Health Care Provider (EHCP).
