Australia and South Africa became the first teams to qualify for the Super 8 stage of the ongoing ICC T20 World Cup being played in the US and the West Indies.

2021 champions Australia, part of Group B along with Scotland, Namibia, England and Oman, cliched their third successive win in the row when the crushed Namibia by 9 wickets on Tuesday, June 11.

Australia captain Mitchell Marsh won the toss and asked Namibia to bat first. Leg spinner Adam Zampa spearheaded Australian attack with a 4-wicket spell as Namibia were restricted to 72 all-out in just 17 overs. Australia had no troubles in the chase as they romped home in 5.4 overs and 9 wickets to spare.

Earlier Australia recorded 39-run win over Oman and beat England by 36 runs. With 6 points from 3 matches and a net run rate of +3.580 Australia sit at the top of Group B and are through to the Super 8 stage.

Australia next take on Scotland on June 16.

Meanwhile in Group D, South Africa too registered three wins on the bounce after they beat Bangladesh on Monday June 10.

The Proteas kickstared their World Cup campaign with a 6-wicket win over Sri Lanka and followed that with a 4-wicket win over the Netherlands.

A hat-trick of wins had still not guaranteed South Africa a place in the Super 8. But Tuesday's Group D fixture between Sri Lanka and Nepal to be played in Lauderhill, Florida was washed out due to incessant rains with a ball being bowled. With Sri Lanka and Nepal sharing a point each, South Africa qualified for the Super 8 stage.

South Africa's final league group game is against Nepal on June 14.

The 20 teams playing in the tournament are split into four groups of five teams each.  The top-two teams of each group at the end of the group stage qualify for the Super 8 stage.
