
Scenic destinations along the Line of Control (LoC) between India and Pakistan, which were earlier out-of-reach for tourists, are witnessing a rise in footfalls this season and the Kashmir Valley has until May 2024 welcomed more than 1.25 million tourists, IANS quoted local officials of the tourism department as saying. Going by this trend, 2024 is likely to break records in terms of tourist arrivals in the Union Terrirtory. Moreover, the news agency said that a majority of hotels in Srinagar city, the ski resort of Gulmarg and the hill stations of Pahalgam and Sonmarg were sold until mid-June. Besides, domestic visitors, travellers from abroad have started touring the Valley in large numbers amid improved facilities in the region.
