Janhvi Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao-starrer 'Mr & Mrs Mahi' is off to a flying start at the box office, delivering the most advanced ticket sales for any Bollywood film released this year. The film hit the theatres on Friday, May 31.
The sports drama, helmed by Sharan Sharma, who earlier directed Janhvi Kapoor’s 'Gunjan Saxena: The Kargil Girl' in 2020, topped the advance ticket sales figures for this year with total sales of 2.15 lakh tickets.
The film left behind Hrithik Roshan and Deepika Padukone-starrer 'Fighter', which hit screens worldwide on January 25 this year. The Siddharth Anand directorial managed to sell 1.45 lakh tickets in advance bookings. Yami Gautam and Priyamani’s 'Article 370' sold 1.25 lakh tickets before its release, while mega budget film 'Bade Miyan Chote Miyan', starring Akshay Kumar and Tiger Shroff, could only manage to sell 1.03 lakh advance tickets.

Cinema Lovers Day' on May 31. The Multiplex Association of India earlier announced ₹99 per ticket for all the cinegoers across all cinemas, including major chains like PVR-INOX and Cinepolis.

Trade analyst Sumit Kadel said 'Mr & Mrs Mahi' has taken a "historic opening" on the Cinema Lovers Day.
"Film has opened with 70% occupancy at A Tier centres & eying 90% throughout the day. Opening day biz will dismantle all expectations," he said.
Produced by Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions, 'Mr & Mrs Mahi' is Janhvi and Rajkummar's first film together.
