At least 504 of the 543 MPs elected to the 18th Lok Sabha have declared their total assets worth more than ₹1 crore, according to an analysis by the poll rights body. A staggering 93% of winners are ‘crorepatis’ in 2024, while it was 88% (475 candidates) in 2019 and 82% (443 candidates) in the 2014 general elections, according to the Association of Democratic Reforms (ADR). The data indicates a steady jump since the 2009 polls, where only 315 (58%) MPs had total assets worth more than ₹1 crore. Party-wise analysis shows that 227 (95%) of 240 winning candidates of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and 92 (93%) of the Congress' 99 winning candidates have assets worth more than ₹1 crore. Dr Chandra Sekhar Pemmasani | Telugu Desam Party's (TDP) Dr Chandra Sekhar Pemmasani is the richest MP elected to the Lok Sabha elections in 2024, with total assets worth more than ₹5,705 crore. Pemmasani contested the polls from Andhra Pradesh's Guntur constituency and defeated his closest rival, YSRCP's Kilari Venkata Rosalah, by 3,44,695 votes. Konda Vishweshwar Reddy | BJP leader Konda Vishweshwar Reddy has secured a victory from the Chelleva constituency in Telangana, beating Congress' Dr Gaddam Ranjith Reddy by a margin of 1,72,897 votes. In his election affidavit, he declared his total assets worth ₹4,568 crore, making him the second most affluent among the current MPs in the 18th Lok Sabha. Naveen Jindal | Hailing from one of the most affluent families in Asia, BJP leader Naveen Jindal has total assets worth over ₹1,241 crore, making him the third richest MP in Lok Sabha. He serves as the Chairman of Jindal Steel and Power Limited. Jindal was earlier a member of the Congress and was elected from the Kurukshetra parliamentary constituency in the 2004 and 2009 elections. Prabhakar Reddy Vemireddy | Having total assets worth over ₹716 crore, Prabhakar Reddy Vemireddy is among the wealthiest MPs in the 18th Lok Sabha. He is the founder of VPR Mining Infra Pvt. Ltd and was nominated by the TDP from Andhra Pradesh's Nellore seat. Vemireddy managed an easy win by a margin of 2,45,902 votes, leaving behind Venumbaka Vijaya Reddy of the YSRCP. CM Ramesh | BJP leader CM Ramesh earlier served as the Member of Parliament in the Rajya Sabha from Andhra Pradesh. In his election affidavit for the 2024 elections, he declared total assets worth ₹497 crore. The BJP pitted Ramesh against YSRCP's Budi Mutyala Naidu from Andhra Pradesh's Anakapalli seat.
