
Air India Express, a Tata Group subsidiary announced recently that it will commence daily direct flights between Kolkata and Hindon Airport in Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh. The airline said that Hindon Airport serves as a significant secondary airport for the National Capital Region (NCR).
Starting from Independence Day (August 15), daily flights from Kolkata to Hindon will begin operations. According to the airline, the flight from Kolkata is scheduled to depart at 7.10 am, arriving at Hindon at 9.30 am.
The return flight will take off from Hindon at 4:25 pm and would land in Kolkata at 6.45 pm. An airline spokesperson mentioned that Air India Express (AIX) anticipates over 90 weekly departures from Kolkata once the Kolkata-Hindon route is operational.
During the CAPA Indian Aviation summit in New Delhi, Managing Director Aloke Singh announced the addition of Kathmandu and Dhaka to the airline's network. Details regarding these flights will be disclosed later, as per the spokesperson.

Aside from the Kolkata route, the airline will introduce daily direct flights from Hindon to Bengaluru and a daily direct flight to Goa from August 1.
The statement highlighted that in addition to its operations from Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGI) in New Delhi, AIX will expand its services to Hindon Airport, thereby improving connectivity to and from other cities in Western Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, and Haryana.
Moreover, the carrier said that it would soon launch flights to Dhaka and Kathmandu as part of expanding its operations. Currently, the airline flies to 14 international destinations, including Singapore.
On the sidelines of the CAPA India Aviation Summit 2024, he also said the carrier will start services from Hindon Airport in Uttar Pradesh.
